ABOUT
The performance exhibition project ‘Aggregates’, curated by Camille Jamet and Nora Almes, was first presented in 2019 at the Raven Row Gallery in London. This performance trilogy sought to fuse queer-feminist strategies and marginalised narratives with the pressing concerns of environmental ecology. The series urged new ways of thinking around intimacy, gendered identities, sexuality and postcolonial bodies, alongside climate change. The project was continued in 2021 at the Ausstellungsraum Klingental in Basel, with an expanded selection of artists, which included next to Linda Stupart, Rebecca Bellantoni und Scheidegger/Croceri, also works by Oscar Gardea Duarte, Evan Ifekoya, Ayeesha Hameed and Lena Maria Thüring. During Art Basel, those artists were invited to reflect on how bodies exist in different states of fluidity. This time all artists were asked to create a piece of work that they would later activate through a performative gesture. We invited the artists and visitors to think about the flow of natural, social and cultural conditions and explore those moments when bodies meet water.
HOW WE MADE IT WORK
HERproductions took charge of creating and executing the Aggregates exhibition, curated by Nora Almes and Camille Jamet. We handled everything from creating and controlling project budgets and schedules to working hand-in-hand with the technical production team of Ausstellungsraum Klingental, coming up with innovative solutions to showcase the exhibition and its three performance events.
